Second Grade Studies Holidays Around the World.

We focused on Sweden. The girls made beautiful holly leaf crowns and the boys made handsome star hats! We performed the song Santa Lucia (in Italian) at the school wide assembly and for the Hooksettites.  The children "traveled" to Israel, Australia, Mexico, England, Germany, and of course the USA.  They had lots of fun!

Another afternoon of STEM fun. Challenge: How many Magic Tree House books can your paper table hold.

Decorating our little pumpkins.

Measuring the pumpkin roll.

The "Big"Pumpkin Roll (STEM Project)

The students listened to the story the Runaway Pumpkin. I asked them, "will a higher incline make your pumpkin roll farther?" The students worked in groups to build a ramp.  They were given cups, cardboard, tape, and coffee holders.  They discussed their ideas and then drew it out. The next day they built their ramps. They had a blast!
